A couple favorite shape books

Micah and Lilly have both really enjoyed the books Mouse Shapes and Shape Capers. We've read them quite a bit and done some fun activities with them.
With Mouse Shapes we used tangrams, magnetic shapes, and foam shapes to design images (some copied from the book and others made-up). On one page a mouse says "triangles are tricky but any shape with three sides is a triangle". It was a great opportunity to show him the 3 types of triangles and mention their names to him (equilateral, isosceles and scalene). We drew some and pointed out different ones in the book. I don't expect him to remember those names, but I like throwing out words in an opportune moment and then relating to them at other times. He's actually been using them, so that's cool.
With Shape Capers we also used the tangrams and then got a cup, put some of the tangram pieces in the cup and acted out the song that was in the book "Shake, shake, shake! Shake the shapes - what will they be? Here's a ___, just for me!"
