A favorite "ah-ha" moment came the night Matt took apart the television set. We were talking about the 'primary' colors (red, yellow & blue) vs. the three colors our eyes are sensitive to. In fact our eyes can tell the difference between almost 7 million different colors, based on these three colors: red, green and blue. So, Matt took apart the tv to show the kids the red, blue & green light guns. Then we went to the other room and experimented with colored cellophane over flashlights. When red, green and blue get combined they create - r/g = yellow,r/b = magenta and g/b = cyan. (Stay with me here.) When those mix it becomes white (when combined in equal amounts). What colors are in a majority of printer ink cartridges? Cyan, Magenta, Yellow & black.
Here it comes ... when I showed Micah the ink cartridge colors and told him those four colors made gray he said "I thought black & white made gray." Then we looked at the combination of cyan, magenta & yellow - white, plus the black, equals gray. "Ah-ha."
